The Fairytale Atelier
On 18th May, Piazza Castello took part in Chelsea in Bloom with The Fairytale Atelier, a dreamlike floral installation inspired by the brand’s signature green aesthetic and the quiet beauty of natural craftsmanship.
For this year’s theme, Out of this World, Piazza Castello looked not to science fiction, but to fantasy, nature and the unseen hands behind creation. The window was transformed into a sunlit forest suspended between worlds, where celestial fairies drift through foliage, flowers climb in unexpected directions, and light settles softly across silk, cashmere and glass.
Created in collaboration with florist Catherine Amendol, the display imagined the boutique as an enchanted atelier. Here, the mannequins were not simply dressed. Their garments appeared to be crafted, stitched and adjusted by fairies, bringing a sense of wonder to the slow, artisanal process behind Piazza Castello’s cashmere and silk pieces.
The installation surrounded the King’s Road boutique with layers of moss, meadow flowers, climbing greenery and delicate woodland details. Soft shades of green, ivory, lilac and blush echoed the colours of the collection inside, where flowing silk dresses sat among garlands, branches and floral arches. The result was a world that felt quietly magical, rooted in nature yet lifted into something more ethereal.
At the heart of the concept was a celebration of craft. Piazza Castello has always held a deep reverence for natural materials, from the softness of cashmere to the fluidity of silk. The Fairytale Atelier brought that philosophy into a visual story, showing beauty not as something rushed, but something carefully made, shaped by patience, imagination and touch.
Sustainability was also considered throughout the display. Natural materials were prioritised wherever possible, flowers were donated or composted after the event, and the fairies, props and structures were designed to be reused in future window installations.
For Piazza Castello, Chelsea in Bloom was more than a floral display. It was a chance to open the door to another world, one where craftsmanship meets fantasy, nature becomes theatre, and the boutique itself becomes part of the story.
